Surfside in Washington DC

Overpriced, food is okay. Wait staff is nice. Takes forever to get a drink, which is unfortunate with time limits on tables. Challenges other restaurants in the area for most mediocre $60 meal.

The Phucket (teriyaki beef short rib taco) was devastatingly good. I highly doubt I'll be back in the area soon, but I definitely would like to visit this place again.

Great environment close to many of the Woodley park Georgetown area attractions. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean and it appeared that the owners took great care and interest in their establishment.

Great Mexican food, definitely a place to go if you want a relatively quick meal.

We got takeout. The process was simple enough, although it would have been better if they had one line served by the two cashiers, rather than two lines, served by two cashiers. I would say that Surfside does fill a bit of a niche in the area. It is lighter than Cactus Cantina, and uses better ingredients and spices than Chipotle and hits the price point between the two. As for the food, we got the Rio and Nevis tacos, and the Havana quesadilla. I thought the flavors of the Rio were good, but both tacos were surprisingly dry, even with the crema and salsa on the Nevis. Both needed a lot more salsa for moisture, which could have easily been included in a small container to add at our own discretion. Sadly there was no additional salsa. The Havana quesadilla was fine, but felt like it was trying to do too much. I enjoy zucchini, but I don't feel like it added anything. Would I go back? Maybe. Not something I yearn for, but could be nice sitting on the patio with drinks and friends.

You should probably go to the Dupont location in DC. I payed significantly more for less of the same food. They really should consider serving chips at every table. The ambiance is quite nice.

Great selection of tacos and burritos, the enchiladas and fajitas are great too. Solid tres leches cake

Ordered via delivery during the pandemic. Food arrived quickly and on time, also presentation was great with everything arranged well even inside the togo containers. Burritos and tacos were great. The cilantro lime rice is also amazing and has a very pronounced cilantro flavor. No skimping on the good stuff.

#Amazing -- I've been here several times. This was the first time we dined in the outdoor seating section. The food is always amazing, comes out quick and hot. We did have one item we ordered come out incorrectly, and they were quick to fix it and bring it back out. Our waitress, Capri, was sweet, attentive and prompt. In a post-COVID world, we were a little uneasy about eating out, but we noticed all the wait staff had on masks, and many had on gloves. There was plenty of spacing between tables and visible hand santizing stations also. They also take your name and number at the host table (for contact-tracing purposes). The only one con, for some, may be the price. It's on the higher side, but with the quality and portion size of the food, I think it's worth it. If all this doesn't clue you in, then let me frank: Go and eat here. It is #amazing!

I always love the food here. Great tacos and salads and easy to eat healthy if you are so inclined.

The selections are ready unique, the staff is friendly, and they are able to accommodate larger groups. Love the rooftop seating. My only complaint is they never seem to answer the phone.

Interesting/different spicy margarita. Good ceviche and other appetizers.

Looks like they furloughed WAY too many employees. Waited over an hour past my pickup time and finally flagged someone down. Got an order cancellation email 2 minutes later. No apology.

The staff is not friendly. Or unless you are their targeted audience. Yet maybe its just the front staff woman continuously who is just nasty. Greets only particular people. We are big fans of Surfside. We generally stop by the Dupont location for Surfside but this location is closer home so doing takeout works better for us from here.Calling in for takeout was easy and we were able to place our order within a few minutes. The order was ready for pickup within 15 minutes, which was great since we were there a few minutes before the 15 minute mark and were able to pickup our order right away.We ordered our Surfside favorites - Nevis, Cabo San Lucas, and Punta Cana.Nevis - good combination of shrimp and mango - the mango provides a good compliment to add on hot sauce!Punta Cana - the chicken is fried perfectly - not too much oil and works best with the other ingredientsCabo San Lucas - the pepper provides a nice kick to the taco and the steak is cooked well!This was a good experience with Surfside and the food was up to our expectations!

The food is good and margarita are great... its confusing to place your order as all the papers are not out for me to place an order.....

I wasn’t very impressed with this place. The burrito and rice were dry and didn’t have much flavor. Everything looked great in the pictures but I won’t order from here again.. it was relatively priced but not worth the spend.

tried calling in my order but no one answered the phone. Show up and there are three customers in the store and proceed to wait 20 minutes for them to make one to-go entree. While I wait I'm wondering why, in 2019, am I expected to fill out my own meal ticket?? The only reason this isn't one star, and the reason these guys are still around, is because the food is good. The service is trash.

Just not the same anymore. Placed a delivery order that went badly with the driver getting lost. They are skimping on the ingredients. Lots of rice but only 4 shrimp in burrito. My Bon Aire was mostly rice and not much sauce either. Was great but not any more. Chips were stale as well.

Made reservation for 2 and when we showed up on time we were told it would be 30 min for a table. We were told if we wanted to wait we could pay for a drink at their outdoor bar and stand on the sidewalk while we wait for a table.

My mouth waters every time I think about this place! While they no longer serve my once favorite menu item, there are other great go-to substitutes. Awesome atmosphere and really friendly staff

Purchased 3 fish tacos from the sidewalk walk up window. Total was $18. Wow...for the size of the tacos that is waaaaay too much. The fish also needed to be seasoned as it was very plain. The corn tortillas were on point and the ingredients tasted fresh. With that said I can't recommend the tacos for the price they are charging. Lower it to $12 or I would have to recommend going a few blocks south to the Cantina.

This is where I go whenever I have to eat with a vegetarian. The food here is good, but vegetarians really love it here. I also especially like that the nosy bar is upstairs with the roof deck which keeps the downstairs relatively quiet for curmudgeons like myself. This was a thoughtful and well done restaurant with something for everyone.Oh, and the bathrooms are clean. That's just essential for any review.

Great mix of a seafood place and Mexican place in fast casual setup. Line can be a little long at dinner, but I think the ingredients always are hot & fresh. Lots of Mexican specialties to drink.

Incredibly well made Tex Mex. Not much else to say. Every meal I've gotten here has been delicious. The jetties company really knows thier food.

I've always loved surfside. Their ingredients seem fresh and healthy. You can sit inside or outside on the roof. The food is flavored perfectly and is very delicious.

Quick but ‘spensive

Tried their new Tenleytown location and it was nice! Fun atmosphere, small bar area, lots of seating. Service was fast and friendly! The tacos are close to authentic style, and an order only comes with 2. The quesadillas do give you more food for the same price as the tacos (and are definitely better). The walk-up 24 hour taco window has most of the same menu items but the prices are $2 cheaper across the board! I wonder if you can order from there and sit at the bar.... will have to give it a try. Overall the food is okay, but a good addition to the neighborhood.

This place is fun! The tacos and chips with guacamole or queso are yummy! You can make your own creations! Upstairs patio seating area is cool.

Staff was accommodating to my questions about the menu and drinks. The waitress was particularly sweet! The food was pretty good and the upkeep of the place was clean and organized. I had a good time, and would recommend!

Simple, clean food. I constantly go back and it’s always good. Everything on the menu is good.

Upscalw taco's totally worth it

The newly opened Surfside is now A full service version of the prior Surfside in Glover Park. There is a separate carry out area for those who don’t wish to sit for tipping service. Overall though not perfect, there was a lot to like. Service was friendly and overall efficient, decor was fun and space roomy with large bar area. The queso was too thin and runny for me and dropped off the chip like salsa but the flavor was good. The salads and taco plates we ordered were flavorful. There was no breakfast or brunch menu items but hopefully they can add those items in the future.

Surfside has great food, tasty drinks, and a really fun atmosphere. The theme they have chosen "beach taco bar" is a fun new addition to the area.

Food was great only issue I had was the mosquito because outdoor seating. They were bitting when we there there. Next time note to self bring the spray.

Yummy food, good portion size. Our pitcher of Margherita's was half off and nice and strong.
